Le scientifique Cal Meacham (Rex Reason) résout un étrange puzzle qui lui permet de rallier un programme ultra-secret dirigé par le mystérieux Exeter (Jeff Morrow). Ce dernier a réuni les plus grands esprits scientifiques du monde dans le but de percer le secret de la production et du stockage de l’énergie nucléaire. Mais avec l’aide de ses homologues Ruth Adams (Faith Domergue) et Steve Carlson (Russell Johnson), Meacham découvre rapidement que son hôte n’est pas ce qu’il prétend être.
