CFS PRESENTS: THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY (EST)

CFS PRESENTS: THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY (EST)
The story concerns 24 hours of a family vacationing on a Baltic island where their alienation from one another is mirrored in the bleak landscape that surrounds them.

This masterful work by Bergman only further endeared him to serious film critics worldwide and won him an Oscar for best foreign film. Displayed here is his typically brilliant visual sense helped along by his long-time collaborator, cinematographer Sven Nykvist who proposes highly symbolic framing of shots. The music is largely string based and never overwhelms. The best dramatic performance from this very solid cast comes from the mesmerising Andersson who must float in and out insanity and carry on what appears to be incestuous posturing with her brother.

Come view the film’s stunning black and white photography on our big screen and get carried away into a soul-searching experience that is almost holy.
